Ozarks 2008: Part 3

Day 13 - Thursday, July 3

Thursday morning, we made sure to get up early because we wanted to be on the road by 9:30am. We managed to do that, and it's a good thing, because we got some rain not 10 miles west of the campground.

It was about a 90-mile drive to Ft. Smith, where Ken's Uncle Bill and Aunt Jeri live. Ken's Mom and Grandma were down to visit, too. We got there around 11:00am, and spent the rest of the day visiting with family, playing cards, and chatting. Ultimately, we saw almost everyone in Uncle Bill's side of the family, and even met a few people for the first time. It was a lot of fun, and we didn't leave for our hotel until after 10:00pm.

Day 14 - Friday, July 4

Friday, we headed from Ft. Smith up to Granby, Missori to visit Ken's Uncle Tom and Aunt Mary. First, we stopped at Uncle Bill's and visited for a little while while Mom and Grandma were getting ready. Then, we headed north together.

Instead of going directly to Uncle Tom's, we stopped at our hotel in Neosho first, and got everyone checked in. (We had to make sure Grandma would be able to use the room with her walker.) Once we got that taken care of, we took one car from Neosho to Granby.

We got there about 1:30pm, and had lunch pretty soon after [ 1, 2 ]. Then, like in Ft. Smith, we spent the rest of the day visiting. Along with Uncle Tom and Aunt Mary, Ken's cousing Brian was there with his wife Bobbi and their baby Morgan, and it was a nice relaxing day.

Day 15 - Saturday, July 5

Saturday morning, we decided to head back to Uncle Tom's to visit for a few hours. We were there until around noon, and we had a chance to get a few more pictures [ 1, 2 ].

We stopped for lunch 20 minutes or so outside of Granby, and then for gas an hour north of that. Then, we drove straight through to Albert Lea in Minnesota, where we stopped for gas and dinner. We were home by about 9:15pm.
